Principal and Vice Chairman
With a reputation as a key player in self-storage investment sales, Ashley Compton has sold or listed more than 20.1 million square feet of self-storage over the course of his 18+ year brokerage career. These transactions are valued in excess of $2.19 Billion and place Ashley among top national producers. Upon joining Colliers' Nashville office in 2016, Ashley was named a National Director of self-storage investment sales. Ashley has received the Colliers' Top Producer Award and the Everest Club Award (Top 10% Producer for Colliers US) every year since joining Colliers.
While obtaining his undergraduate degree, Ashley launched his career as an acquisitions analyst for a self-storage REIT. His brokerage experience began at CBRE in 2004, where he quickly developed the firm’s Nashville-area self-storage practice and grew it into a well-known national brand. In 2014 and 2015, CBRE recognized Ashley as the firm’s highest-grossing national self-storage producer. Ashley has served diverse clients including Bank of America, GE Capital Corporation, Babcock & Brown, Westport Properties, Koch Real Estate Investments, and Amerco / U-Haul.
Before earning a master’s of business administration with a concentration in accounting from the University of Mississippi’s School of Business, Ashley received his bachelor’s in finance and real estate from the University of Memphis.
Senior Vice President
Matt Davis is a Senior Vice President with Colliers International’s Self Storage Group. His primary business focus is representing institutions, partnerships and individuals in the acquisition and disposition of self storage assets across the United States and Canada.
Matt’s 24+ years of real estate valuation work, along with his experience and market knowledge across most commercial and industrial real estate classes, gives him the ability to provide owners an accurate measure of how today’s investment market values their asset(s).
Mr. Davis’ efforts are primarily focused on the self storage industry; however, given his years of valuation experience across all asset classes, Matt also has the expertise to represent sellers who own other real estate in Northeast Ohio (i.e. retail, office, industrial, multifamily, etc.).

Tom specializes in the sale, development and disposition of self storage and industrial assets throughout the U.S. and has completed transactions totaling in excess of $450 million worth of consideration with recent closings in Indianapolis, Milwaukee, San Diego, Sacramento, San Jose/Silicon Valley and Washington State.
Tom is an SIOR designee. The SIOR designation stands unchallenged for excellence in the performance of real estate services, and is universally recognized as the prerequisite in the selection of a commercial real estate broker, agent, or consultant. Tom also has an MBA from Pepperdine UIniversity.
Any broker can keep track of market data, but Nate’s lifelong connection to the Puget Sound area – combined with 15 years of local commercial real estate experience – sets him apart from the competition. He has long-held relationships with all the key players in the market, and a keen understanding of local dynamics that enable him to make connections quickly and efficiently. Nate excels at connecting clients with opportunities, often before they’ve even officially hit the market. His straightforward, no-nonsense approach to property pricing and positioning make him a trusted adviser to owners and investors alike.

When I started my career, the industry experts said I would need to complete 100 deals to experience all the various types of deals. I’ve successfully completed over 500 commercial transactions.

Jeffrey R. Shouse, MAI is currently serving as the Executive Managing Director for the Sacramento, San Francisco, Fresno, Salt Lake City and Denver offices. He oversees the largest team at Colliers International Valuation & Advisory Services.
Jeff joined Colliers International Valuation & Advisory Services in January 1998. His primary focus is on the valuation of self-storage facilities, mobile home parks, and multifamily developments. Over the last several years, Jeff has appraised these property types in all 50 states. He serves as the Company’s National Self-storage Specialty Group Practice Leader. He oversees a team of 20 appraisers nationwide that are also specializing in self-storage. He has been invited to speak at several events for the Self Storage Association and California Self Storage Association throughout the years. His clients include lenders, developers, owners, attorneys, insurance companies, and redevelopment groups.
Managing Director I St. Louis

As the newly appointed Managing Director of the St. Louis valuation office and member of the self storage practice group, Kate Spencer, MAI brings a wealth of knowledge to Colliers’ team. With a 17-year career, including 5 years’ experience managing self-storage valuation members across the country, Ms. Spencer assists Jeff Shouse, National Self Storage Director, on business development, portfolio management and quality control for the practice group.
She is also a key member of the St. Louis Valuation and Advisory Services Group, building a dynamic local team and financial institution network. With a record of service excellence, Ms. Spencer is committed to delivering best-in-class valuation and consulting services.
