Michael Ortiz is a senior vice president with Colliers in Arizona, specializing in data center and digital infrastructure. He focuses on expanding Colliers’ portfolio of innovative technology solutions and strategic global opportunities, touching on all things digital infrastructure.
Michael collaborates with clients and brokerage professionals to identify, create and deliver mission critical infrastructure and data center solutions. He services occupiers, owners and investors who have an interest in or need for IT-based real estate. Michael provides creative, simplified solutions and assists clients in making mission critical infrastructure and data centers a valuable piece of their real estate portfolios.
His approach to clients and owners is simple—to create win/win solutions that foster long-term strategic partnerships. Michael’s core values of integrity, transparency and execution have earned him high praise from clients.
His service offerings include site selection, service provider contract negotiations, lease review and negotiations, cloud and managed services consulting, sale-leaseback solutions, and acquisition and disposition.
Michael served with the Colliers data center solutions practice group, spanning 2014 to 2017.
Previously, Michael spent nearly five years with Digital Realty (NYSE: DLR) and DuPont Fabros (NYSE: DFT), two of the largest hyperscale data center operators in the U.S., where he served as senior asset manager and vice president of acquisitions and site selections.
During his tenure at Digital Realty and DuPont, Michael concentrated his efforts developing multi-tenant and built-to-suit global hyperscale, client-driven data center projects. He also became a specialist in state tax incentive creation in various emerging markets within the U.S. and data center land site acquisition across the U.S. and Canada. Michael was part of the portfolio management leadership team at Digital Realty that managed over 10 million square feet of data centers.
Prior to Digital Realty Trust, Ortiz held commercial real estate portfolio management roles within the investment banks of UP Morgan, Mitsubishi Tokyo Financial Group and Equity Office Properties.
