National and Omaha Investment Deals Blast Off

Omaha commercial real estate investment sales increased over 50 percent during 2021 compared to 2020’s volume. In particular, Colliers Nebraska tracked $1.66 billion of commercial real estate investment sales throughout Omaha during 2021, which was a 51 percent increase over the $1.1 billion that transacted in 2020. On a 10-year basis, 2021’s volume was the second highest, trailing only the $2.2 billion that transacted in 2017. Not surprisingly, volume was strong across each of the four quarters in 2021, and really hit the gas in the fourth quarter.

On a national basis, commercial real estate investment sales hit an all-time high of $809 billion in 2021, representing a staggering 88 percent increase over 2020, and a 35 percent increase over the prior high of $599 billion in 2019.
