Colliers | Omaha sought to find a way to objectively calculate and quantify the health of the Omaha market with hard facts and data versus the "gut feeling" many our our clients have told us they've been using when making decisions that impact their business. Thus, we created the Omaha Economic Index™.

The Omaha Economic Index™

Colliers International | Omaha built the Omaha Economic Index™ based on over two dozen key indicators from federal, state and local government sources as well as select internal data. All data points used measure the health of the economy of the seven counties making up the Omaha MSA*.

The Omaha Economic Index™ fell 3.7 percent in the second quarter of 2020 from the first quarter of 2020. This represents three straight quarters below the 11.5-year index trend line

​Ed joined Colliers International in Omaha in early 2001 as an Associate in the Advisory Services Group. He was promoted to Senior Associate in 2002, to Vice President in 2005, to Senior Vice President in 2008 and to Executive Vice President in 2016. Ed’s primary focus includes property sales, office leasing and tenant representation. 

In 1995 Ed joined First Union Corporation in Charlotte, North Carolina, as a vice president. During his first five years at First Union, Ed successfully built a 12 person consulting team which focused on First Union’s Capital Markets activities, as the underlying businesses grew more than tenfold.

Ed began his career at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York in the International Bank Supervision area. During his eight-year tenure, Ed received six promotions and quickly worked his way to Examining Officer, where he led a team of 21 professionals. While at the New York Fed, Ed frequently interacted with senior and executive management of large banking institutions on a variety of supervisory and business topics. Ed also received two President’s Awards for Excellence from the New York Fed.​

Mike Potthoff

Mike joined Colliers International in 2015 with a strong ability to build relationships through his high level of initiative and extremely strong work ethic. After successfully commanding his position as Vice President, Director of Brokerage, Mike was promoted to President of Colliers | Omaha in 2019. In his role as president, Potthoff directs the operational excellence of the entire firm while concentrating on the development of new business as well as maintaining strong client relationships. Most importantly, Potthoff focuses on gaining market share and providing expert commercial real estate insight.

Kyle Peterson

Chairman & CEO, Principal | Omaha

Kyle Peterson joined Colliers International in 2005 as an associate in the advisory services group and was named President/CEO of the Nebraska office in 2013. In his career, Kyle has participated in over $500 million worth of investment sales and leasing transactions. His areas of emphasis include the sales and leasing of commercial office and investment properties. Peterson’s background as a former Major League pitcher and television broadcaster provides a solid competitive and communications core that serves as a backbone in his client relationships.​

Prior to joining Colliers, Kyle was the youngest Major League analyst in the history of ESPN. His responsibilities included both studio and in-game coverage and he has appeared on over 600 Nationally Broadcast events including the College World Series, Little League World Series and the Major League Baseball Playoffs. He was a part of two Emmy-nominated ESPN productions, the 2003 Little League World Series and the 2004 Major League Baseball Playoffs.

 

Kyle was selected in the first round of the 1997 Major League draft and was with the Brewers organization for seven years, with parts of three years in the Major Leagues. During that time he fostered lifelong relationships with players and coaches from all around the world. He was active in the Major League Players Association and was the assistant team representative of the Brewers in 2000.​​
