Industrial Market Resiliency Prevails

While other commercial property markets have begun to feel the impact of COVID-19, Oahu’s industrial sector posted a second quarter year-to-date occupancy growth of 65,655 square feet and fell to its lowest vacancy rate in two years. Tight market conditions persist as we continue through the sixth consecutive year of vacancy rates below 2.0%. 
For the first two months of 2020, contracting sales and wholesale revenues posted strong gains of 55.37% and 9.48%, respectively. The hope is that this pace of sales growth will lessen the effects of the economic slowdown induced by COVID-19, which will likely begin to affect the industrial market in the upcoming quarter.
