Tim Simonsen Brokers First New U.S. Best Buy Store in Seven Years

-- Station Park adds leading technology products and services provider to tenant mix --

Best Buy opened its first new U.S. store in seven years at Station Park in Farmington. Tim Simonsen, senior executive vice president and partner at Colliers International | Utah brokered the transaction.

“Tremendous potential exists across the Wasatch Front for retailers looking to expand market share in Utah,” said Simonsen. “Best Buy selecting the Salt Lake City market for its first new U.S. store in seven years demonstrates the incredible strength of consumer spending found within the state.”

The 36,000-square-foot store offers a variety of appliances, premium audio and home theater tech, and other products. It also offers experiences from Apple, Microsoft and other brands, and Geek Squad services. The store employs 91 people and plans to hire more help for the holidays.

“Station Park provides the perfect environment for Best Buy to continue growing its position within the market,” said Simonsen. “The development is ideally positioned to ensure growth well into the future.”

Prior to the opening of the Farmington, customers had to drive nearly 15 miles to reach the nearest Best Buy store. Best Buy now has nine total stores in the Salt Lake City area. Other stores include American Fork, Jordan Landing, Murray, Orem, Park City, Riverdale, Sandy and South Salt Lake. The company operates more than 1,000 stores across the U.S., Canada and Mexico.

Situated just 15 miles north of Salt Lake City, Station Park offers a premier mixed lifestyle center with over 1.2 million square feet of retail, restaurants, hotel and Class A office space as well a 14-screen XD Cinemark theater. The development comprises 62 acres in Davis County and conveniently sits at the convergence of Interstate 15, Highway 89, Legacy Highway and a UTA Frontrunner stop.
