Community Input will Steer Future Use
February 15, 2020 [Macungie, PA] – Macungie Memorial Park, a beautiful 42-acre privately operated park in the heart of Macungie is growing thanks to a timely opportunity and the generosity of its community.
Scott Horner of Colliers International recently assisted community member Joe Devine in the transfer of a 1.6 acre parcel at 135 Main Street between Lumber Street and Mountain Creek which will become an addition to the western side of the Park.
Macungie Memorial Park’s facilities contains substantial areas of tree-shaded lawn, a swimming pool, basketball courts, tennis courts, picnic pavilions, ball fields, a gymnasium, banquet rooms and meeting rooms - and now even more uses to consider with its recent acquisition.
A note from the Board of Directors on the park’s website states:
The purchase was made possible by a local family who provided a two-year interest free loan for the purchase price and closing costs. The Park is looking forward to creating a plan for the use of this new area and welcomes community input. Park meetings are held the last Tuesday of each month in the basement of the main Park building. Visitors are welcomed. The Park will also be looking for grants, donations and funding suggestions to pay off the temporary loan.
