Colliers | Nebraska sought to find a way to objectively calculate and quantify the health 
of the Omaha market with hard facts and data versus the "gut feeling" many our our 
clients have told us they've been using when making decisions that impact their 
business. Thus, we created the Omaha  Economic Index®.

We built the Omaha Economic Index® based on over two dozen key indicators 
from federal, state and 
local government sources as well as select internal data. 
All data points use measure the 
health of the economy of the seven 
making up the Omaha MSA.

Melissa has over 19 years of commercial real estate market research experience. She is responsible for the oversight of the market research function for Colliers International | Omaha. Melissa prides herself in providing information and analysis that is meaningful and powerful to the decision making of commercial real estate brokers and clients of Colliers International | Omaha. 

Her responsibilities include the production and authoring of quarterly statistical market publications, tracking and reporting commercial sales and leases in the market, mapping, and providing demographic, economic, traffic count and sales lead data.

Melissa assists clients with multi-market site selection projects. She designed, built and maintains a proprietary economic index across all U.S. metropolitan areas and for the local market.

Ed Fleming

Executive Vice President, Principal | Omaha


Ed is a highly seasoned and successful professional with over 20 years of commercial real estate experience. He has an outstanding track record of delivering top-notch results and specializes in larger, more complex transactions. In 2020, 2018, 2017, 2016, 2015, 2014, 2013, 2012, 2011, 2008, and 2007 Ed earned the firm’s “Broker of the Year” award and was named a Colliers International 2020, 2018, 2017, 2016, 2015, 2014, 2013 and 2012 Everest Award recipient, recognizing the top 10 percent of producers nationally each year. During his career Ed has personally completed transactions totaling over $1 billion.

​Ed joined Colliers International in Omaha in early 2001 as an Associate in the Advisory Services Group. He was promoted to Senior Associate in 2002, to Vice President in 2005, to Senior Vice President in 2008 and to Executive Vice President in 2016. Ed’s primary focus includes property sales, office leasing and tenant representation. 

In 1995 Ed joined First Union Corporation in Charlotte, North Carolina, as a vice president. During his first five years at First Union, Ed successfully built a 12 person consulting team which focused on First Union’s Capital Markets activities, as the underlying businesses grew more than tenfold.

Ed began his career at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York in the International Bank Supervision area. During his eight-year tenure, Ed received six promotions and quickly worked his way to Examining Officer, where he led a team of 21 professionals. While at the New York Fed, Ed frequently interacted with senior and executive management of large banking institutions on a variety of supervisory and business topics. Ed also received two President’s Awards for Excellence from the New York Fed.​

Mike Potthoff

President, Principal |Omaha


Mike joined Colliers International in 2015 with a strong ability to build relationships through his high level of initiative and extremely strong work ethic. After successfully commanding his position as Vice President, Director of Brokerage, Mike was promoted to President of Colliers | Omaha in 2019. In his role as president, Potthoff directs the operational excellence of the entire firm while concentrating on the development of new business as well as maintaining strong client relationships. Most importantly, Potthoff focuses on gaining market share and providing expert commercial real estate insight.
