Colliers wins recruitment battle for senior investment broker Reza Ghobadi—adept multifamily expert asked to lead and bolster firm’s’ North Los Angeles ranks

Former business executive has closed more than $750 million in transactions

ENCINO, CA – March 1, 2017 – In a move to reinforce its standing among the top ranks of Southern California’s most elite commercial brokerage firms, Colliers International has engaged Reza Ghobadi, a consistent top producer with a career total of more than $750 million in closed transactions to his credit, asking him to lead and expand the brokerage firm’s multi-family and mixed-use investment efforts in the sprawling markets of the San Fernando Valley and the Tri-Cities of Pasadena, Glendale and Burbank.

“With the recruitment of Mr. Ghobadi, we are preparing to compete and expand our presence at a much higher level in these burgeoning markets—apartment and mixed-use investment properties—where we have begun to expand on the toe-hold we have there now,” said Colliers Executive Managing Director Hans Mumper, who oversees brokerage operations in Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino, Riverside and Ventura counties. “He had multiple offers to choose from and the fact that he selected Colliers speaks volumes about why we continue to attract some of the top brokers in the industry. We are excited about our new partnership.”

Ghobadi, who early in his career owned and operated a hospitality and transport company, changed careers in 2006, and had an immediate impact on the fortunes of Marcus & Millichap, winning the rookie of the year in 2007, his first full year in the commercial real estate industry and a year before the start of The Great Recession.

Despite the impact of the recession on the industry, Ghobadi never looked back and continued to win top sales awards despite the economic downturn and, then, well into the recovery, closing multi-family and mixed-use investment transactions valued at some $200 million. Beginning his new career as a senior investment associate, he continued to climb the brokerage ranks, being named director of Special Asset Services in 2009. He was recognized by his previous firm for outstanding sales performances for five consecutive years, 2008-2012.

Ghobadi, who is fluent in three languages, will be based in Colliers Los Angeles North office in Encino.

“His lengthy experience first as a business owner and now as a senior investment broker, along with his ability to fluently speak three languages, has allowed him to create a loyal following of clients from a variety of backgrounds in the ethnically diverse San Fernando Valley, in particular, and in the greater L.A. basin, generally,” said Mumper

A resident of West Hills, Ghobadi’s academic background includes an undergraduate degree in mathematics and physics from Wenstromska Tekniska Gymnasiet in Vateras, Sweden.
