Tim Norton Inducted into Midwest Real Estate News Hall of Fame

TimNortonTim Norton, SIOR of Colliers International | Indianapolis has been inducted into Midwest Real Estate News (MREN) 20209 Commercial Real Estate Hall of Fame. Tim is a highly respected and accomplished industry professional, specializing in medical office leasing and sales throughout the Indianapolis market.

Below is Tim's profile from the MREN Hall of Fame announcement:

Tim Norton serves as lead of the Healthcare Services team in the Indiana market for Colliers International and is a designated Healthcare Fellow within the brokerage’s Healthcare Services network. He is a seasoned medical office broker providing 26 years’ experience specializing in the medical-healthcare sector. Norton represents diverse clients including hospital systems, private physician groups, healthcare REITs and MOB owners and users.

Norton tackles clients’ challenges across various major markets. Whether the solution is a relocation, consolidation, acquisition, lease re-negotiation or ongoing lease administration, he offers the full spectrum of expertise required ― strategic planning, demographic and site consultation, comparative financial analysis, best-use assessment, transaction management, site acquisition or disposition, valuation and zoning expertise.

“I thrive on variety, managing multiple unique projects at the same time,” Norton said. “Each project seems to need a different skill set, offering and requiring constant learning. I also like bringing creativity to a deal, working backwards from the client’s goal in new and innovative ways. But while the variety is important, it is the people that keep me in this business. I have had the good fortune to work with – and develop strong relationships with – some amazing clients who have looked to me as a strategic partner and
member of their team. That is an honor I never take lightly.”

Norton has closed several big deals during his career. For instance, he represented Regenstrief Institute, one of the world’s largest informatics and healthcare research organizations, in the development of its worldwide headquarters facility. The project entailed negotiating a long-term land lease with IU University; orchestrating the design and construction of the 80,000-square-foot facility; plus working to secure bond financing, infrastructure and tech incentives and a $5 million foundation grant.

In addition to his extensive healthcare real estate practice, Norton has also served many national corporations including Verizon Wireless where he completed more than 300 lease transactions on their behalf.

“I believe that one of the best ways to enable success is to surround yourself with solid, dynamic, smart people with complimentary skills, so building a strong team has been key to any success I have had,” Norton said. “Another key for me has been investing in relationships. I have many clients I have grown with over the years, and I have been so excited to be part of their explosive growth. Each client – each relationship – has so much potential! I have loved watching so many of my early career clients grow. Lastly, I think a key for success has also been recognizing which deal or client is not for me and passing it to someone who is a better fit for the deal.”

When not working, Norton prefers spending time with his family and friends at his lake house on Clear Lake and at the ranch in Colorado. He also enjoys spending time by the ocean and taking on any outdoors challenge that requires effort, training or working toward a goal.
