Brian Zurawski inducted into Commercial Real Estate Hall of Fame

Brian ZurawskiBrian Zurawski SIOR, of Colliers International | Indianapolis has been inducted into Midwest Real Estate News 2018 Commercial Real Estate Hall of Fame. Brian is a highly respected market leader and accomplished industry professional, specializing in the multi-market corporate solutions arena.

Highlights from his profile in the MREN Hall of Fame announcement:

Years in the business: 21

Wide-ranging experience: Over his 21-year career, Colliers’ Zurawski has specialized in multi-market corporate services, with a strong focus on logistics and corporate facilities on a regional and global scope. He has also worked on projects throughout the United States, as well as in Mexico, Canada, Asia, Europe, Australia and Africa. Brian serves as co-market leader for the Indianapolis office, overseeing the firm’s strategic initiatives and key business units. Previous roles include a lead advisory capacity of the firm’s property management and he served as a partner with Summit Realty Group, where he was instrumental in organizing the 2015 sale and transition of Summit Realty Group to Colliers International.

“I enjoy being a part of large-scale effort to identify, analyze and locate new real estate that is strategic in nature to our clients,” said Zurawski. “Being a part of an effort that makes a difference for our clients, creates jobs and spurs development is exciting.”

Answering the call: Zurawski cites his greatest strengths as site selection analysis, advisory services and working collaboratively with stakeholders such as corporate real estate heads, local/state economic development officials and incentive procurement advisors. He has had to lean more on those strengths in the last few years as new challenges have arisen.

“Today, one of the big challenges is the shift in the supply/demand dynamic,” Zurawski said. “Sourcing existing real estate for clients is increasingly difficult around the country as supply has tightened. Increased construction cost has also made projects more challenging in recent years.”

Keys to success: Having earned both his industrial engineering degree and MBA from Purdue University, Zurawski places high value on that engineering background, believing that it prepared him with the problem-solving mentality that he uses to this day. Professionally, Zurawski spent some time outside of the CRE arena, which also helped him once he entered it.

“I think that hard work, dedication and focus are the foundations of my success. Drawing upon my work in the transportation industry before getting into commercial real estate brokerage has guided me to view my work from the eyes of our clients. Having that opportunity to understand the business from a user perspective has been invaluable,” Zurawski said.

Hardware: Zurawski is a member of SIOR and has won numerous company awards including induction into the Colliers Everest Club and recognition as Colliers Indianapolis Top Overall Producer 2011-2014, as well as the Second-Highest Producer for 2016. He is an Indianapolis Business Journal “Forty Under 40” and Duke Realty Top Indiana–Industrial Brokers 2008-2014
