The Fountain Fox Beattie House to go on the market October 21

Greenville, SC – Colliers International will represent the City of Greenville in the sale of The Fountain Fox Beattie House, the third oldest structure in Greenville sitting on ±2.43 acres at 8 Bennett Street, Greenville, SC. The ±4,908 SF two-story historic home is being offered for purchase by way of a sealed-bid process. An offering memorandum will be available October 21, 2016 at The web page will provide instructions for prospective buyers to submit a bid.

The Beattie House was constructed by Fountain Fox Beattie in 1834. Members of the Beattie family lived in the house until the mid-1940s, when the City of Greenville acquired the house, and it served as the meeting place for the Greenville Woman’s Club from 1949-2014. The property is located in the East Park Avenue Historic District in downtown Greenville and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The total site is ±2.43 acres, of which a ±.61 acre-residential lot will be available for sale separately.

The City of Greenville will require the purchaser to place a Preservation Easement on the property in order to preserve and protect the historical integrity of the House and the Property. Sealed bids for the house are due December 5, 2016.
