National shipping retailer fills last vacancy at Ferris Commons
Big Rapids, Mich - Big Rapids will get its first UPS store this fall, making shipping and delivery more convenient for individuals and businesses.
Colliers West Michigan helped secure UPS, the final tenant in the Ferris Commons shopping center at 1250 Perry Ave. This new location will be franchisee Brent Haskin's second UPS store.
"Big Rapids residents will now be able to ship and deliver packages with ease in a convenient, centrally located store," Haskin said. "We look forward to opening our doors to the community and are thankful to have found a great space to offer our services."
UPS will join other successful tenants such as Family Farm & Home, Planet Fitness and JoAnn Fabrics & Crafts, among others, in a busy and attractive shopping center across from Ferris State University. National retailers have become increasingly interested in opening stores in Big Rapids.
"Big Rapids has gained popularity in the last few years, drawing more national interest than ever," said David Wiener, senior vice president with Colliers West Michigan. "Ferris State University and other educational institutions with two-year trade programs have thrived in the last few years, drawing more people to the area and increasing demand for big box retailers that make life more convenient."
The location at Ferris Commons is easily accessible from U.S. 131. UPS is currently completing its buildout of the space. GEN 3 Investments LLC owns the Ferris Commons and recently filled the 22,000-square-foot former MC Sports with Marshall's.
"UPS is a welcome final tenant to Ferris Commons, which in recent years has become a destination shopping center in Big Rapids," said Ryan Bollman with Gen 3. "We are fortunate to have a firm like Colliers fill the retail spaces at Ferris Commons by forging relationships with national retailers and showing them why Big Rapids is a great place to locate."
