Colliers International Northeast Florida sponsors 7th annual Red Shoe Affair and raises money for The Climb for Cancer Foundation

August Community Involvement

Members of the Alpha Epsilon Delta or AED at the University of Florida banded together for the week of August 10th through August 16th for the exciting adventure of climbing Mt. LeConte and Clingman's Dome in Tennessee, Grandfather Mountain in North Carolina, and Mt. Rogers in Virginia, all while raising money to benefit the Climb for Cancer Foundation. The group undertook this adventure with Climb for Cancer Founder, and mountain climber, Ron Farb, friend and fellow Rotarian Cleve Cooper, Chair of the Foundation Board, our very own Rory Causseaux and Rory’s wife Terri. Collectively they traveled 1,900 miles by vehicle, hiked 40+ miles, rafted 5 miles, and reached the highest points of Tennessee and Virginia.

The Climb for Cancer Foundation started when co-founder and mountain climber, Ron Farb, decided to combine his thirst for adventure with the desire to see an end to cancer in his lifetime. He has climbed five of the seven summits, the highest mountain in each of the seven continents, helping the Foundation raise almost $1.5 million for psycho-social, cancer research, and related support programs. Realizing this is not a solitary effort, Ron and Dianne Farb created the Foundation to provide support for those battling the disease, and to help ease the pain and suffering of those affected by cancer.

Colliers International Northeast Florida, Inc. was proud to be a silver sponsor of the 7th annual Red Shoe Affair hosted by the Ronald McDonald House Charities of North Central Florida. Our very own Dan Drotos is the secretary of the Ronald McDonald House board. The event took place Saturday August 17th at The Stephen C. O’Connell Center.

The Red Shoe Affair is the premier annual fundraising event for the Ronald McDonald House Charities of North Central Florida. With a dinner hosted by Embers Wood Grill, a beautiful venue decorated by Keith Watson Productions, and music from Genius Entertainment, the night turned out to be an extraordinary one supporting the families of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of North Central Florida.
