Home Depot opening new distribution center in Grove City

Home Depot Inc. is expanding its distribution network in Ohio with a new Grove City site.

The company is taking the entire 151,000-square-foot building at 3563 Southpark Place in Grove City. The new facility, which will manage delivery and installation of large appliances like washers, dryers and refrigerators ordered online, will create 24 jobs for managers, supervisors, warehouse associates and drivers.

“Our Grove City operation is vital to our supply chain expansion and marks a key step in our overall plan to provide the fastest, most reliable appliance delivery to the Columbus Region,” Kyle Dennis, vice president of supply chain development for The Home Depot, said in a statement.

The facility will complement Home Depot's dozen stores in Central Ohio, which have a combined 275 employees.

The $110 billion S&P 500 home improvement retailer announced this year it was investing $1.2 billion to expand its national distribution and delivery network nationwide, in order to offer same-day and next-day delivery to 90% of the U.S. population.

Becknell Industrial owns and manages the 3563 Southpark Place warehouse, which sits at the intersection of Gantz Road in the city's industrial park. Michael Linder of Colliers International manages leasing for the building, constructed in 2019. Horton Emergency Vehicles had been its first tenant.

In October, JobsOhio approved a $100,000 economic development grant for the company, whose fixed-asset investment of $1 million will create $1.23 million in payroll in Grove City. It's making a similar investment in a new center in Hamilton at the same time.

“The company’s further investment and confidence in the Region is a testament to our unmatched consumer reach and impressive logistics infrastructure, now increasingly important for companies due to the boom in e-commerce,” Grove City Mayor Ike Stage said in a statement.
