Colliers adds veteran female brokerage duo in Cincinnati

Colliers, one of the largest commercial real estate firms in Greater Cincinnati, has added a veteran female brokerage duo.

Elaine Gillespie and Sloane Nichols have joined the Cincinnati office of Colliers as senior vice presidents, effective Oct. 22. Both were previously with Equity, where they had been a team since Nichols joined the firm in 2019.

Joe Wiles, managing director of Colliers, said it has been his goal to attract “the best talent” to the firm and focus on diversity and female empowerment in the commercial real estate industry.

“Sloane and Elaine are well-respected agents that clients in the region highly regard,” Wiles said in a news release. “Our culture will continue to evolve with the addition of Sloane and Elaine and their additions are just the most recent of our growth initiative.”

Gillespie and Nichols each have more than 20 years of experience in commercial real estate. Gillespie has been with Equity for nearly 20 years.

Nichols is returning to Colliers, after joining Equity in 2019. She joined Colliers in 2015 and spent nearly four years with the firm, specializing in tenant and landlord representation of medical and office properties. Prior to coming to Cincinnati, Nichols spent more than 12 years working in commercial real estate in the Athens, Georgia area.

Catherine Williams, director of marketing and public relations for Colliers, said adding Gillespie and Nichols to the office will help make the industry more diverse.

“By having these two join the Colliers team, our goal of growing the powerhouse of female agents is fueled in the right direction,” Williams said.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 31.2% of professionals working in the rental/leasing aspect of real estate are women. Colliers | Greater Cincinnati has 50% of its leadership positions held by women, compared to the national average of 9% within the industry, according to CREW Network’s 2020 Benchmark Study.

Catherine Williams started her career with Colliers International at the Greater Cincinnati & Dayton offices in 2017. Starting off as a marketing specialist and being responsible for establishing a strategic marketing plan for actively listed properties, developing property collateral, assembling presentations, and assisting in day-to-day administrative tasks. Catherine has since been promoted to the Director of Marketing and Public Relations based on her strong work ethic, team work performance and her commitment to the company.

She works in line and collaborates with the Director of Research, Loren DeFilippo, to maximize the impact of the regions research material for promotion of the offices and the Colliers brand as a whole. 

Catherine is what you would call a mediator and a defender- she is always eager to help a good cause and is very dedicated for the people she works with. She has always been one to include and relate to those around her; Catherine does not see the difference in others instead she recognizes and cultivates the potential in them.
