Colliers International represents Ethan Allen in leasing new distribution center in Summerville

New distribution center in Summerville will supply stores across the Southeast.

Charleston, SC – Colliers International’s Mark Erickson, SIOR and Matt Pickard have assisted Ethan Allen in leasing space at Summerville Distribution Center which will supply furniture to their five stores in South Carolina and support the growth of the furniture supplier in the Southeast.

“In the Charleston market, finding 10,000 to 35,000 square feet of available warehouse space can be very challenging,” said Mark Erickson, Vice President of Colliers International | South Carolina in the Charleston office. “There is a shortage of inventory like the product offered at the Summerville Distribution Center. Metal buildings with lower ceiling heights can be a significant cost savings compared to new tilt-up concrete construction buildings. Why pay for all the bells and whistles when you don’t have to?”

Erickson and Pickard took on the challenge of finding the right building for Ethan Allen at the right price. They toured the site during the early construction phase and considered the economics of metal construction compared to tilt up construction. They made an early offer and were able to secure a “first in” rental rate for their client.

No plans have been released yet for future Ethan Allen locations in the Charleston region, but the new distribution center will supply stores within a 150-mile radius. Erickson and Pickard will continue to provide tenant representation services for the furniture store as it seeks any future locations in the Charleston market.
