Colliers International Closes Escrow on Iconic Bakersfield Location

Following much anticipation, Colliers International is pleased to announce the sale of 5601 California Ave:
a property perhaps better known as the iconic, Bakersfield favorite, Mexicali West.

Over the course of 5 million customers, Mexicali West has presented the community with a certain rustic quality and rare, spirited charm that only three-generations of family ownership can provide. This rare dedication consistently transforms first-time customers into long-time regulars, shaping the success and status of this Bakersfield institution.

"There have been rumors that since we're selling Mexicali West, that we are going out of business," said 73-year-old owner, Gloria Griego, in an an interview with the Bakersfield Californian. "That's not true."

Instead, the four owners at Mexicali West-- including Gloria and her brother, Sonny, age 77, have worked alongside the Hale Retail Team of Colliers International to make a long-deserved transition which would allow them to reap the benefits of that hard work and dedication.

As for the future of 5601 California Ave?
The 7,480 square foot property and 1.95 acres of improved land have been sold to Business Ventures, LLC under representation of Cypress Retail Group. Reported plans include replacing the establishment with prime, multi-tenant retail buildings capable of housing new, exciting fast-casual restaurant opportunities and more.
