MDVIP Practice Relocation
Overview
Colliers assists MDVIP with selecting a project team to perform a variety of services for its relocation project during the height of a global pandemic.
Challenge
MDVIP’s relocation project started on a solid course in early 2020 as it partnered with Colliers to begin its project programming and planning. However, no one could have expected what March 2020 would bring to the table for everyone affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. As demand for healthcare increased exponentially, MDVIP’s business picked up speed and never slowed down. Working on project design during a pandemic set the Colliers and MDVIP team up for a challenge. Much of the development and specification work required physically seeing and touching specific materials to decide what could be appropriately applied to the space.
Strategy
Colliers, and the rest of the project team, adapted to the COVID-19 challenge in the same open and collaborative manner as any project challenge they encounter. The project team identified the issues at hand, reviewed the importance of each requirement, brainstormed solutions and created a strategic action plan. The plan involved implementing COVID-19 safety protocols such as social distancing, testing, contract tracing and other specialized cleaning procedures. The team also incorporated virtual meetings, webcam tours, mailed-in sample packages and even ‘solo’ site visits – if needed – to help streamline MDVIP’s decision process.
Result
With Colliers’ assistance, MDVIP completed a relocation of three offices to a new, single-leased location on the fifth and sixth floors in Atlanta, Georgia. The renovated space includes patient reception, exam rooms, specialty exam rooms, labs, nursing stations, consultation and physician offices, support spaces such as tele-med conference, and training rooms. It also includes workrooms, bathrooms, IT server rooms and breakroom areas.
