Colliers Atlanta Celebrates Colliers Savannah's 25th Anniversary

The two offices celebrated a history of partnership and strong relationships.

Colliers Atlanta Executive Chairman, Bob Mathews, Executive Managing Director & Market Leader, Nathan Knowles, and Senior Vice President, Hank Hall, traveled to the Colliers Savannah office to celebrate 25 years of business. 

To commemorate Colliers Savannah’s quarter-century achievement, Colliers Atlanta commissioned a painting by Dan VanLandingham through Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). The painting depicts the first two office buildings occupied by Colliers Savannah within a streetscape of the historic city.

Much of our Savannah commercial real estate business comes from industrial, as well as land and hotels. Industrial properties located within or near port cities continue to be in high demand with minimal vacancies.

Mr. Mathews has been involved in the leadership of Colliers Atlanta since 1993. Colliers Atlanta has 70 plus brokers, 280 employees and 107 million square feet under management, which generate over $3.3B in annual transaction volume from 11 service groups. Mr. Mathews’ commercial real estate brokerage experience spans over 30 years.

Upon graduation from The University of North Georgia, Mr. Mathews served six years in the US Army, completing his service as a Captain. He then joined Lendman Associates, a national personnel consulting and recruiting firm, and spent seven years culminating as Vice President, Northeast Region.

In 1984, Mr. Mathews took his consulting and service background into a commercial real estate career, beginning with Portman Barry Brokerage. Mr. Mathews joined Colliers in 1991 and was an office tenant rep broker and player/coach for over 28 years.  He has been CEO | Atlanta since January 2004.


Mr. Mathews’ volunteer activities include serving as Member of the Board of Directors of the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce, the Atlanta Police Foundation and the Midtown Alliance, and Trustee Emeritus of the Educational Foundation of the Atlanta Board of Realtors.  Mr. Mathews is also the past President of the University of North Georgia (UNG) Alumni Association and currently serving as Chairman for the UNG Real Estate Foundation. In addition, Mr. Mathews is the past President of the Dunwoody High School Gridiron and Diamond Clubs, past President for 2 years (1995/1996) and Member of the Board of Directors of the Murphey Candler Little League (1986-97).  Mr. Mathews and his wife, Joan, have three grown sons.

Nathan is the Executive Managing Director and Market Leader at  Colliers and has global experience leading businesses and teams at some of the world’s most recognized companies. His first job out of college was working in a warehouse and becoming forklift certified, hand-writing serial numbers, and learning distribution, consumer durables, and end-to-end supply chain from the ground up. Since then, he has had a progressive career with multiple leadership roles Internationally. Nathan's background and experience helps clients understand how real estate decisions affect their entire business operations. He has led and built a direct-to-consumer business, negotiated and leased +1 MM SF distribution centers, conducted site selection projects for international companies, optimized end-to-end supply chain for distributors, managed large global accounts, and consulted on the distribution of the H1N1 vaccine.

This experience in both Corporate America and Commercial Real Estate blend seamlessly and provide his clients with industry expertise. Since he has had time sitting on both sides of the table, he has unique insights that to help clients make the best decisions to execute on their strategies.

Earlier in his career, Nathan held multiple leadership roles at Electrolux Major Appliances, the world's second largest appliance manufacturer. Most recently, he was the General Manager, Ownership Solutions with responsibility for North America. This business unit had six service lines within a +$16 Bn global public company. He also has previous leadership experience at LG, Booz Allen Hamilton, and General Electric.
