Stovie is with the Investment Advisory Group at Colliers International and is expert in identifying new opportunistic purchases and dispositions, helping clients determine whether to hold, sell, or refinance existing commercial real estate investments. His work gives clarity to how investment stewardship decisions can accelerate wealth or provide needed capital to help businesses grow.
Stovie specializes in helping owner-occupiers maximize capitalization potential through sale-leasebacks of commercial real estate. His client base is predominated by dentists and childcare owners. Sale-leasebacks are an innovative way to help business owners tap into equity that is trapped by real estate holdings. In this transaction, an owner-occupier sells its real estate asset to a buyer, and simultaneously leases the property back from the buyer at advantageous rental terms. Clients use the transaction to get the capital needed to achieve significant growth without having to borrow money or issue stock. Net sales proceeds are used for purposes such as expanding into new locations, paying off debt, buying out partners, lessening barriers to entry for new practice partners, or enhancing lifestyle.
The Investment Advisory Group at Colliers works with select clients including high net worth families, highly successful entrepreneurs, and operating companies who own significant amounts of real estate for core operations. Its approach is not transactional in nature, but is focused on building generational wealth.
Stovie has more than 10 years of commercial real estate experience, with the majority focused on commercial real estate lending, including underwriting, loan origination, and debt-investment management. Prior to joining Colliers, Stovie worked for Grandbridge Real Estate Capital, BB&T, Colonial Bank and Trimont Real Estate Advisors. Stovie has experience analyzing CRE product types including multifamily, office, retail, industrial, hospitality, and self storage. Stovie is a licensed real estate agent with the Alabama Real Estate Commission.
