About
Professional Summary
As Managing Director of Colliers’ Maine office, my responsibilities include leading day-to-day operations in the office and fostering continued growth and market share in the state of Maine.
I specialize in many sectors of commercial real estate including office, industrial, retail, and investment sales. My previous experience in residential real estate has translated well to multifamily and mixed-use investment properties.
I became a licensed real estate professional in Maine in 2007, but I grew up with a father in residential development and have really been around it my whole life. I have extensive experience in client negotiations, as well as a background in construction, project management, and land development.
Prior to joining Colliers, I was a partner at Cardente Real Estate. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Business Management with a focus in Finance from Eckerd College. In my early years, I attended Cheverus High School, where I developed strong networking and personal ties to the Portland community. I still reside in Portland with my wife, Ali, and maintain strong relationships with both alma maters.

Testimonials
“Thank you for all your help with my first experience in leasing office space. You showed us a great range of properties and were always willing to answer any questions that I had. We are very excited to be moving in the coming weeks and could not have done this without you. I will not hesitate to recommend you to anyone I know looking for commercial space. You are motivated, honest, and enthusiastic.
Once again, thank you so much.”

“I’ve known Mike Cobb for around four years. Our family moved to New England and conducted a 1031 tax exchange. Mike was the seller’s agent and did a great job. When we decided to sell the same property in Maine, I asked Mike if he wanted to list it for us, and he did. The sale went well and I’m glad I went with Mike. He possesses knowledge of the market some people twice his age don’t have. From institutional sized deals all the way down, he has a good mix of data driven analyses along with a thorough understanding of timing and people. He’s an excellent negotiator, always keeping it above board and straight forward. It’s been a real pleasure working with Mike on both projects. He’s a hard-working guy, dedicated to serving Maine and the Portland Community.”

“Thank you for finding our new location! We were in an existing space for over 25 years and reached out to Mike at Colliers to find us a spot to move our production facility for light duty transmissions. You found it in a very timely manner and I just wanted to share our appreciation for getting us into this great building and for finding it so quickly.”

My Team
I specialize in all aspects of buying, selling, and leasing commercial real estate. With a background in investment management and commercial construction, I bring a unique and practical advisory approach to each real estate transaction.
Being a part of the Colliers team, coupled with my local market knowledge, gives me access to an extensive amount of resources and collaboration with experienced professionals in every aspect of commercial real estate. This allows me to best serve my clients.
Prior to joining Colliers, I was a sales associate at Cardente Real Estate where I began learning the many facets of transactional brokerage. Before beginning my career in commercial real estate, I was a financial advisor at Royal Bank of Canada and later at James Lamb & Associates, where I managed $100M+ in client assets. Prior to entering the financial industry, I worked with Hanlon Construction (now NH Custom Builder) specializing in the construction and management of residential and commercial projects within southern New Hampshire and a large multi-unit development in Chelsea, Massachusetts.
I hold a bachelor’s degree from Eckerd College in Marketing and Management with a minor in International Business, focusing on Asian markets.
I grew up in Vermont and currently reside in Portland with my wife, Laura.
I have developed many types of real estate and have founded several companies in the development and construction industries. I now work exclusively on self storage, which allows me to better represent my clients by having all my efforts focused on this single asset class.
My experience operating, buying, selling, and developing real estate gives me a profound understanding of what sellers are going through during the sale process.
I currently own and operate self storage, putting me in a unique position to talk firsthand about the challenges facing owners today.
Prior to joining Colliers, I recently developed a large single-story self storage facility from the ground up. I took the project from land purchase to design, through entitlements, and finally acted as the general contractor on the build.
Before that, I spent 8 years developing condominium projects, some of which sold out at record high pricing. I also operated a large construction firm working for primarily Fortune 500 companies, that I founded and sold. And prior to that, I worked as an acquisition specialist in the mobile home industry where we purchased over 20 parks during a 6-year period.
