Professional Summary

John Montgomery is a Vice President of Colliers International in the Spartanburg office. With his breadth of experience in master-planned communities, retail, residential, commercial and industrial development projects, along with teammates Garrett Scott and Brockton Hall, he guides clients through the development process from inception through lease-up. This team does so successfully not only in the Upstate of South Carolina, but across the Southeast as well.

One of Montgomery’s most notable projects has been the redevelopment of Drayton Mills, a master-planned community in Spartanburg, but his development experience encompasses industrial land and parks throughout South Carolina and Georgia.

He has overseen and developed thousands of acres of real estate and economic development projects worth billions of dollars including facilities for Toray Carbon Fibers, Ritrama, Keurig Dr. Pepper and Magna Seating.

After graduating from the University of the South, Montgomery began his career with Carolina First Bank, where he gained a wealth of knowledge on the banking side of the development process.

With an eye on a career in real estate development, Montgomery moved to New York and earned a Masters in Real Estate Development from Columbia University. With a sincere love of the Upstate, he then moved back to South Carolina and joined Pacolet Milliken Enterprises, Inc. as Vice President of Real Estate. His six years with Pacolet Milliken provided invaluable professional experience and a full immersion in the Upstate commercial real estate market.

In 2015, Montgomery opened his own development firm, Montgomery Development Group, and developed projects while simultaneously advising developer and investor clients, including Pacolet Milliken.
