Professional Summary
Jacob Neil has interned with Intermountain Healthcare in hospital facilities and Andersen Construction as a project engineer intern. He is currently interning at Colliers in commercial property management. Jacob is especially interested in the intersection of people, the planet, and the built environment. He has also worked on tenant improvement-style projects as a construction worker and structural engineering services as an intern.
Accomplishments
With mentorship from his professors, Jacob recently conducted research on ethics and sustainability in construction and engineering, culminating in a conference paper and presentation through the United Nations 1st Academic Conference on the Sustainable Development Goals. He co-captained a region-winning team from Brigham Young University (BYU) for the American Society of Civil Engineers' (ASCE) Sustainable Solutions competition, in which the goal was to design a tiny-home community to address homelessness while meeting standards from the Envision Sustainability Framework and other requirements. Jacob was also selected, one of ten students, to be an IREM (Institute of Real Estate Management) Student Leader in 2022.
Education
Jacob is pursuing his BS from BYU in construction and facilities management, with an emphasis in facility and property management. He has received his Envision Sustainability Professional (ENV SP) credential from the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure (ISI).
Memberships & Involvements
A member of ASCE, IREM, and IFMA (the International Facility Management Association), Jacob serves on the committees of Public Relations and Student Outreach as part of the IREM Utah chapter.
