About
Professional Summary
Dorothy has been in the student housing industry for 25+ years, having started her career on property in Gainesville, FL then as General Manager of the local locator company. As a recognized expert, owners and developers consistently looked for her input on market conditions and suggestions on how to make their properties perform optimally for the student population.
Prior to joining Colliers International in 2012 as Executive Managing Director of the National Student Housing Group, she was a Sr. VP with a national firm. There she was instrumental in building a platform of student housing brokerage. Through these efforts, Ms. Jackman formed a group dedicated to student housing brokerage, training, mentoring and hiring other agents to work on the team. Her team provided early reports and data which were difficult to come by in the early years of student housing. As a result, her team was regarded as a resource, and it was through those initial efforts that the brand became prominent.
Her role with Colliers is to continue strengthening relationships with owners, management companies, developers, investors and equity providers in the industry. She continues to mentor junior brokers and believes the industry is one of the most interesting asset classes in commercial real estate.
Ms. Jackman has presented and moderated at the most prominent conferences in the space and is considered to be one of the industry’s preeminent experts. Dorothy believes in the premise of “performance before pay” and making the client’s needs her focus while assisting them in achieving their goals.
