2022 Q2 Sacramento Office Market Report

After two full years of occupancy losses and rising vacancy, the Sacramento office market posted its first quarter of positive net absorption and declining vacancy since the first quarter of 2020. Though the market is on the right track, stabilization will be realized when positive absorption occurs in subsequent quarters. With availability still elevated and hybrid work plans leading to smaller office footprints, it is possible we could see demand turn negative again in the second half of this year.

2022 Q1 Sacramento Office Market Report

Though occupancy losses moderated in the first quarter of 2022, Sacramento’s office market recorded its eighth straight quarter of negative net absorption and rising vacancy. As employees return to the office in the spring, we will start to see more clarity around firms’ future space needs. The current downsizing trend is showing few signs of slowing down, however, there are several significant signed leases that will be occupied in the next six months.
