Automotive sector - OEM and supplier expansion | April 2021

alt=""

Over the past two decades the automotive sector has undergone significant transformation and is currently in the midst of an electrical evolution. Huge investment has been made in the sector in Europe, and more broadly in EMEA.

The distribution of new investment and activity illustrates that OEM investment has been widely distributed, when including the production of all motor vehicles - not just automobiles.

OEM production has focused on the UK, Belgium, Northern France, Spain, Germany and the Central and Eastern European and South-eastern European (CEE/SEE) markets alongside some activity in Italy and Sweden. Further afield, Russia, Turkey and Morocco have developed growing production bases.

When it comes to automotive suppliers activity is also widely distributed, but there has been a clear focus on investment into the lower-labour cost economies of CEE & SEE.
