Colliers Asia celebrates International Women's Day

We choose to challenge gender inequality and to build a more inclusive industry.

The theme for this year's International Women's Day is Choose to Challenge—a challenged world is an alert world, and from challenge comes change.

At Colliers, diversity and inclusion are fundamental to who we are and is at the heart of our culture. We choose to create an inclusive world, embracing the diversity in our people and the talent we recruit. Simply put, diversity and inclusion make us better.

As we celebrate women’s achievements in the commercial real estate industry and beyond, we ask some of our leaders across the Asia business to share their stories of inspiration and empowerment, embracing diversity, and how they choose to build a more inclusive future for the industry.

My greatest achievement to date has been the creation of Workplace Advisory, a business line that didn’t exist at Colliers four years ago. The first two years were challenging; I made a lot of mistakes and often felt overwhelmed. 

Now, I look back on that time and feel a great sense of achievement; however, Workplace Advisory wouldn’t exist without the support and dedication of my team and my manager. I am grateful to be surrounded by people who believe in me and share the same vision for our business.

My mother is my role model and inspiration. Despite her humble upbringing and her struggles in life, she gives real meaning to the proverb, ‘She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the day to come.’ She embodies strength, perseverance and an enterprising spirit, and has never let the glass ceiling deter her from pursuing her dreams and ambitions.

Her support and encouragement allowed me to pursue a career across different – and in some cases, male-dominated – industries. I hope I can be a similar role model for my daughters and the next generation of remarkable women.
