The slight decrease in demand during the year can be linked to Covid-19 related factors. Perhaps the most important of which can be attributed to foreign investors being unable to enter the country in an convenient way, the two week quarantine at either end of travel has acted as the largest deterrent.
The vaccination program in Thailand is projected to commence in May 2021, albeit it is not clear how quickly it can practicably be administered. Therefore, it is likely that the situation of the outbreak will be longer than initially expected. In order to mitigate the impact on the operators in the industrial estates and to reduce operating costs, the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT) has prescribed additional policies. By extending the period of the service fee waiver for 11 industrial estates during October 2020 -March 2021, IEAT will support business continuity which supports industrial businesses to maintain their employment.
