Q: How long have you been in the real estate industry and how did you come to join Colliers International?

I have been in the real estate industry since 1998, when I started as an analyst at another leading real estate agency right after graduating from the University of South Australia with a Bachelors' in Business (Property).

It was when I was working for United Group Limited (UGL) in Adelaide, South Australia, when a friend from university - who was with Colliers at that time - reached out to me regarding an opportunity to move to Singapore.

The role was to head the Corporate Solutions team in the Singapore office, and I haven't looked back since.

Q: Tell us a bit more about your current role with Colliers. What do you find most fulfilling about it?

As Head of Occupier Services, I am responsible for representing predominantly Fortune 500 companies with their leasing and project management needs and projects in Singapore.

I find it most fulfilling to work with leading global brands and business leaders in their respective sectors. Being responsible for their office and industrial premises, as well as space fit-out is very rewarding, not forgetting the opportunities to gain unique insights into their business and learning more on how they operate.

"Every business is unique and has different needs; you need to consider all factors in a methodical and prudent way so as to determine the best outcome for your business."

Q: From your experience of working with occupiers, do you have any tips you could share with them when they re-evaluate their real estate strategy in the current environment?

In a nutshell - "Keep calm!" We are indeed in unprecedented times and there are many aspects to consider when reviewing your real estate portfolio.

Depending on your business needs, you may need to look at expanding, consolidating or splitting operations, such as a Hub and Spoke solution. Every business is unique and has different needs; you need to consider all factors in a methodical and prudent way so as to determine the best outcome for your business. Partnering with a team of experts with the latest market knowledge to guide you, will ensure the best results.
