COVID-19 has negatively impacted every sector of the global economy often resulting in job losses. With global travel restrictions only now easing and hotels reopening, the travel and tourism sector and consequently hospitality, are still two of most affected sectors.

Based on the latest report issued by The World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) in May 2020, "Impact Assessment of the COVID-19 Outbreak on the International Tourism, the COVID-19 pandemic has cut international tourist arrivals in the first quarter of 2020 to a fraction of what they were in 2019. International tourist arrivals dropping by 22% in Q1 2020, potentially declining by 60% 80% for the whole year 2020. This translates into a loss of 67 million international arrivals and about USD 80 billion in receipts globally.
