Emerald City, the first professional shopping centre in Tomsk, ready to open

On April 26 the first professional shopping centre in Tomsk, Emerald City, will be opening its doors to the public. The centre’s tenants include such well-known brands as H&M and Reserved, and more than 90% of the centre’s space has already been leased. The international consultancy Colliers International is the exclusive lease and marketing consultant for the shopping centre.
Emerald City (GBA 46,000 sqm, GLA 33,000 sqm), the first professional and largest retail property in Tomsk, is situated in the geographical centre of the city in close proximity to the main transport arterial – Komsomolsky Prospekt. The retail centre’s catchment area includes 265,000 residents, which is approximately one-half of the population of Tomsk. Emerald City can be classified as a regional shopping centre.

On May 31 a major city celebration will be organized by Emerald City for its tenants and visitors. The cultural entertainment program includes various games and prizes from the tenants, the opening a sculpture composition inspired by the children’s book The Wizard of the Emerald City, an evening concert by the Quest Pistols and more.

The majority the clothing, footwear and accessories brands are being offered in Tomsk for the first time. The retail gallery includes stores from H&M (Hennes & Mauritz), Snow Queen, Re: Store, Colin’s, Stefanel, Gant, Caterina Leman and Betty Barclay as well as all of the brands from RE Trading: Reserved, Cropp, House, Mohito and Sin-say. Moreover, lease agreements have been signed with food service operators (KFC, Burger King, Shokoladnitsa, Little Japan and Perchini) and children’s clothing stores (Neposeda, Gulliver, Adidas Kids, Mam to Be and others).

In total the three floors of the shopping centre will be home to more than 150 stores of major brands, including both Russian and international operators, a food court with 6 operators of various formats and 3 cafés.

The anchor tenants include an INTERSPAR hypermarket (8,500 sqm) and Goodwin Cinema (4200 sqm), which includes an entertainment zone for children. The modern 7-screen digital multiplex is situated on the top level and includes an Action Hall, VIP Hall and 5 standard halls with a total capacity of 1100.

The name of Emerald City was not an arbitrary choice. Writer Alexander Volkov, the author of The Wizard of the Emerald City, lived and worked in Tomsk. This theme is incorporated in the building’s architecture and interiors as well in the centre’s corporate style. The project’s branding was developed by the British company SCG London.

Anna Nikandrova, Regional Director, Head of Retail Agency Department, Colliers International Russia: “Prior to the appearance of Emerald City Tomsk lacked professional shopping centres with a well-developed concept and strong tenant pool. The opening of the first high-quality property is of course a major event for the city. We are confident that the striking design of the project, its unique location, convenient parking for 750 autos and unique tenant pool will make the Emerald City retail centre a popular place for shopping as well as an enchanting place to spending one’s leisure time.”
