New Sources of Growth in Moscow’s Industrial Zones to Be Examined at the International Investment Forum EXPO REAL 2013

Managing Partner of Colliers International Russia Nikolay Kazanskiy will moderate the panel discussion “Industrial Territories – A New Source of Growth for Development in Moscow”, one of the key discussions at the 16th international investment and development forum Expo Real 2013. The event will be held October 8 at the New Munich Trade Fair Center at the stand of the Moscow City Government (Hall B1, Stand 110) with the support of the Guild of Property Managers and Developers (Russia).
The core issues to be addressed during the discussion are the reorganization and development prospects of industrial zones, including international best practice, effective use of land and the potential for building in Moscow, methods for attracting investment, and the Russian reality of government-business interaction in redevelopment projects.

Leading experts of the Moscow government and legislature as well as representatives of investors and developers (PIK Group, PSN Group, Gradient Alpha, MR Group and Pioneer, among others) will share their expertise on the renovation of industrial zones in Moscow and other major cities around the world.

Nikolay Kazanskiy, Managing Partner, Colliers International Russia: “In Russia, following the sharp decline of the country’s industrial sector in the 1990s, a large number of conveniently located but vacant or highly underused territories appeared. However, their potential has not been fully realized due, in part, to problems related to the lack of mechanisms to attract private investment into redevelopment projects. Moscow could use this resource more effectively taking into consideration the experience accumulated in the post-industrial cities of Europe, where this trend emerged much earlier. Redevelopment presents substantial upsides both for the city (job creation, revitalization of neighborhoods, better environmental conditions) and for investors (high returns, availability of land, economy of scale). So we are very glad to have the opportunity to discuss this topic with representatives of the Moscow government and also to bring it to the attention of foreign and Russian investors and developers.”
