In Focus: Martin Aguila, Property Analyst for Research, Philippines

Meet our Research Analyst, Martin Aguila, as he shares insights on what makes the Philippines an attractive property investment destination and how his experiences in school and athletics helped him transition to the corporate world.

1. How are you enjoying your current role as a Property Research Analyst?

Better than expected! You get a better picture of the Philippine property market; and get to enhance your public speaking skills and widen your professional network from people in the real estate and other industries.

2.  How has your experience as a student athlete/leader helped you transition to corporate?

My experience as a team captain of my track and field team helped me a lot in transitioning to the corporate world since I knew being part of the team in a corporate setting would also entail responsibilities and require soft skills such as being a team player. Going beyond expectations is also key.

3. What are the 3 key features of the Philippine property market that make it attractive to investors?

1. A dynamic property market that is rapidly evolving
2. A market with a diverse mix of demand drivers
3. A buoyant property market that is partly shielded from global economic shocks by robust macroeconomic fundamentals.

4. What advice would you give to a student struggling to juggle time between academics and extra-curricular activities?

There is a time and place for everything. Have a to-do list and calendar to keep track of the things you have to prioritize for the week.

5. If you could take anyone to lunch (dead or alive), who would it be?

My grandmother who was supposed to have lunch with my family at Vikings but passed away recently.
