On August 26, HEMA will open a store on the Oostelijke Handelskade in Amsterdam-East. The company leases a space of 330 sqm in the Brazil shopping center. HEMA had wanted to settle at this location for a long time because of the wide daily offer of neighborhood shopping center Brazil.
The Brazil shopping center, located in an old cocoa warehouse in the historic Eastern Docklands, consists of 23 stores. The shops mainly sell high quality daily products, with a choice for organic and conscious living. There are several supermarkets and various fresh specialty shops. The offer is combined with services and functions such as a pharmacy, drugstore, stationery store, hairdresser, dry cleaner and catering. Under this shopping center on the IJ is a parking garage where you can park for free for the first 1.5 hours.
HEMA is celebrating its 95th anniversary this year. In 1926 the first store opened in Amsterdam's Kalverstraat. The company now has nearly 800 stores in nine different countries.
Colliers acted in this transaction on behalf of the lessor, an institutional investor.
