Two buildings in the city centre of Utrecht have been sold to the University of Utrecht. The Clarenburg building has 1,800 square meters, De Doelen 2,240 square meters. Both buildings have three floors and are located at 12 Nicolaaskerkhof and 20 Vrouwjuttenhof in Utrecht.
The seller Altrecht is a mental health institution. The complex consists of two buildings with a common staircase. De Doelen mainly functions as an office and outpatient care. Clarenburg is a psychiatric clinic for addiction problems and acute psychiatry. In time, both buildings would become vacant due to changes in healthcare. For now, Altrecht will still be located in these two buildings.
The zoning plan is regarded as 'social', which also includes education. This is the solution for the University of Utrecht to expand. At the moment, the University does not have sufficient space. Together with an architect, the University looked into the possibility of an educational and/or office function.
The seller was advised by Colliers and legally assisted by Hermans Schuttevaer and Dolmans Budes . The purchasing party is supervised by Punt Makelaars.
