Shell leases monumental office building Berlage in The Hague

The monumental office building Berlage in The Hague is leased to Shell. The building with over 13,000 sq m of office space will become part of the Shell Campus after renovation.

The building is located on the former estate of Groenhoven and was built between 1924 and 1927. This was done on behalf of the insurance company "De Nederlanden van 1845", which used it as its head office. The office was designed by Hendrik Petrus Berlage, one of the most important Dutch architects.

AIK is the owner of the office building and will completely renovate the office for Shell. The renovation is expected to be completed in the summer of 2020 and the office will open its doors to employees.

The Music Academy in The Hague, which has been housed in the Berlage building for several years, has a lease contract and will therefore remain housed there: Shell and the Music Academy will become indoor neighbors.

AIK was supervised by real estate advisor Colliers International. Shell has been advised by CBRE.
