American multinational Coty to Metropolitan Amsterdam

In the first quarter of 2020, the American cosmetics company Coty Inc will come to the Amsterdam Zuidas. The company has signed a long-term lease for the entire Metropolitan building on Buitenveldertselaan.
Coty is an American multinational corporation founded in 1904 by François Coty and produces perfume, cosmetics and skin and nail care products. They have approximately 77 global brands including Clairol, OPI, Max Factor and Wella. In recent years, Coty has also bought licenses from companies such as Burberry and Tiffany & Co. The multinational has since grown into the number three player in the world in the sale of cosmetics.
The Metropolitan building is currently undergoing high-quality sustainability and will receive an A ++ energy label. Coty establishes the headquarters for the Europe, Middle East and Asia region here and employs 500 employees. They rent 10,225 sq m of office space and 1,200 sq m of archive space in the basement.
With the arrival of Coty, another major player will come to the Zuidas and the area will be strengthened again. The area continues to be developed with the arrival of, among others, Suitsupply and a new Van der Valk hotel. With the completion of the North / South line, there is a better connection with the city center.
Olivier Verburg, Amsterdam director agency of Colliers International and responsible for the rental, explains: “Coty is a great asset to the area. They bring variety to the Zuidas. ”
Colliers International advised the owner of the Metropolitan along with JLL. Van Altena advocatuur provided legal assistance to the owner and CMS Derk Star Busman acted on behalf of Coty.
