How long have you been working at Colliers?
I have been working as a receptionist at Colliers for two and a-half years. I worked in a totally different industry before joining Colliers.
What do you like about working at Colliers?
I have been working for more than two years here, and compared to my previous job, I really enjoy the teamwork and sense of kinship there is here. The company I worked for before had a totally different work culture, so I was used to working alone and doing every task that my supervisor asked me to do in any way that I could. I sometimes faced difficulties and this had an impact on my work performance. However, at Colliers, we can ask for help from other colleagues in our team, as long as it will help complete the task faster. I think that is what teamwork means.
What has been your greatest achievement to date?
The greatest achievement for me is having my skill enhanced. I admit that when I started working here, I had limited skills, especially in administration, which is my main job. After working here for some time, I now manage my daily tasks faster and better than I used to. Moreover, with most of the employees now working from home, our workload is much more than before. I am proud of myself and the operational team, in that we have managed to carry out all of the requests we have received from other employees. I think that is my professional achievement for now.
Have you had any good and bad experiences while working at Colliers?
I have had a lot of good experiences while working here. I always enjoy the internal events or activities that are held for all employees. It is really refreshing for us to be away from our daily tasks, even just for a couple hours.
As for a bad experience, actually it is not bad, more sad, that since most of the employees are working from home, we rarely meet our colleagues. It’s really exciting for me to see some colleagues who I often work with come to the office and be able to greet them because we haven’t met for quite a long time.
Do you get inspired working at Colliers?
It is empowering to be able to work with so many female colleagues across departments at Colliers. It makes me realize that no matter what sector you are interested in, your gender won’t stop you from succeeding as long as you never stop trying and learning. I want to keep upgrading my knowledge so I will get an opportunity to work in a better career in the future.
What do you do when you're not at work?
In my spare time or weekends, I usually spend my time doing a simple or light exercise like jogging. Other than that, my brother currently has a small business, so in my spare time I lend him a hand with that.
