Meet Mae, a growing and driven marketer

Hong Kong Blog 1536x1040

Meet Mae Azadzoi, she’s an energetic and ambitious student from Australia, who recently spent some time with the Colliers Marketing and Communications team in Hong Kong. Over her three-month internship she caused havoc! - not really, but she was a great addition to the team, with plenty of new and creative ideas.

Three months was a short time, but we like to think that Mae had a chance to learn plenty of new things and to grow with us. We’ll let her tell you about her experiences in her own words through three different entries, at the beginning, middle and end of her internship...

My Name is Mae and I worked within the Marketing and Communications department as an intern at Colliers. When I started my internship, I wanted to BE AMBITIOUS...

I would like to utilize the word ambitious to reflect my state of mind as an individual entering the Hong Kong office. I believe that undertaking this experience represents my ambition towards honing my craft as a marketer. And I was very excited to unleash my hunger to grow [personally and professionally] within a globally recognized real-estate firm. It would be wrong to not recognize my nerves from being exposed to a new environment and fresh challenges. But I hope to override any concerns about fulfilling my potential through my desire to be acknowledged, both by myself and by my fellow peers for my work ethic.

Through the mid-point of my internship, I wanted to BE SELF-AWARE...

Currently standing at the half way mark of my internship means that I can look back and reflect upon my performance. This requires me to exercise my self-awareness skills. Objectively critiquing how far I have come cannot be achieved without the skill to assess myself. Therefore, I am very grateful to be aided by my team’s ability to provide me with feedback and advice whenever I need it. I also look forward to watching the results of my work come into fruition. This too requires me to utilize intrapersonal intelligence, so that I can reward myself for my improvement, whilst still employing proactivity and the desire to seize project opportunities.

During the last days of my internship, I wanted to BE MYSELF...

As I write this, all the memories I made at Colliers overwhelmingly presents themselves in front of me. From applying for a position at the company, to planning this very campaign. And for this last entry on my Internship experience, I would like to BE myself. One of the greatest presents that this internship has gifted me with has been my ability to express my ideas and opinions without any guilt. I would like to credit this to being in a very supportive environment, as well as having very fitting projects assigned to me. A fine balance of the two allowed me to remain ambitious and self-aware, as well as satisfied with what I have contributed to my team. By being myself, I allowed myself to form real connections with the people around me, and I don’t think you could ask for anything better in an unfamiliar region.
