My name is Bobby Wen and I am an Office Services Intern. Starting my internship at Colliers, the thing I found most important was to BE BRAVE...

I wanted to make most of my time in Hong Kong, I sought to push myself and engage in the opportunities that came up. Around the office, I said yes to offers, yes to tasks and yes to making more friends. At first, I wasn’t sure I was up for the task of engaging with Mainland Chinese Clients in the PRC team, as I had only engagement with foreign and Australian companies before. However, with the support of my team mates, I felt myself developing and becoming more confident in representing the company and my team in front of landlords, investors and tenants.

Through the mid-point of my internship, I wanted to BE CREATIVE...

As I developed and grew as a salesman during my time with Colliers, I began to understand the key qualities it took to be good at sales. The one rule above all was to be creative. You must be creative in addressing your clients’ needs. You must be creative in devising solutions to problems. And you must be creative in standing out from the rest. For me, being creative at work was about trying new solutions to things. To challenge the routine ways of doing things and improving on them. A lot of the times, my managers were very open to new ideas and suggestions, and I embraced the challenge of surprising them and surpassing their expectations.

During the last days of my internship, I wanted to BE EXCELLENT...

My last days at Colliers have brought out some unique kind of emotions. During my two months here, I’ve laughed, cried and had a whopper of a good time. I’ve felt like the people I’ve met at work are some of the most passionate, industrious, creative and genuinely kind people I’ve ever met. They have taught me so much about the office space market in Hong Kong, and allowed me to engage with different stakeholders, pitch to prospective clients, represent client interests and just generally, taught me how to survive in Hong Kong. At the end of all this, I’ve felt myself emerging as a more excellent, more resilient and more resourceful person. And that’s most excellent!
