Colliers announces two senior appointments to bolster office and industrial leasing services in Hong Kong

HONG KONG, 8 April 2021 – Leading diversified professional services and investment management firm Colliers (NASDAQ and TSX: CIGI) has today announced the appointments of John Davies and Terry Shum to strengthen the leasing business in Kowloon and the New Territories. John has been appointed as Executive Director, Office Services | Hong Kong, and Terry has been appointed as Director, Office Services | Hong Kong.

John joins the business with more than 20 years’ experience in commercial real estate in Hong Kong, including both office leasing and investment transaction expertise. He brings with him detailed knowledge of the property landscape, especially in Kowloon and the New Territories, and is tasked with bolstering Colliers’ Office Services business line in those districts and growing Colliers’ Industrial sector capability.

Having earned his reputation as a leading broker in Kowloon, John has spent the last eight years strengthening his offering by working in the investment sector. This has given him a unique skillset that positions him to advise clients on the best real estate strategy, whether it be relocation, consolidation, or expansion through lease or owner-occupier options.

This industry-leading acquisition also includes his first hire as he brings on board Terry Shum, another seasoned veteran who has more than 20 years’ experience working with local, multinational, and Mainland Chinese businesses in Kowloon. After graduating from the University of Hong Kong with an honours degree in surveying and a master’s degree in urban planning, Terry has become a Kowloon office leasing specialist who has principal knowledge of the sector. He will work directly with John to grow the business’s market share with both tenants and landlords. John and Terry’s appointments solidify Colliers’ commitment to accelerating growth and attracting expert talent.

Nigel Smith, Managing Director | Hong Kong, commented: “We have been waiting for the right appointment to enhance our office and industrial leasing expertise in Kowloon and we are now fortunate enough to have two well-established professionals join the business together. These strategic hires are well-timed; Hong Kong’s focus on improving the city’s connectivity with the Greater Bay Area, building a second CBD and driving the migration of professional service firms in Kowloon aligns with the expertise and remit of John and Terry. They are perfectly positioned to accelerate the success of our clients and our people.”

John Davies, Executive Director, Office Services | Hong Kong, said: “I am delighted to have the opportunity to not only join the world’s fastest growing real estate business but to also be a major part of its future success. The Kowloon leasing market has long been a focus area for me professionally, and I am excited to be working with Colliers’ experts to drive significant growth in revenue and market share. I also look forward to further strengthening the business by growing our industrial advisory capability.”

Terry Shum, Director, Office Sevices | Hong Kong, added: “Colliers has a strong reputation in the market and I am delighted to be joining such an enterprising business at a time when we continue to see strong levels of activity in the Kowloon and the New Territories office markets. We expect this to continue and I look forward to providing occupiers opportunities due to the current healthy level of office supply under construction by the major portfolio landlords.”

Colliers’ professionals in Hong Kong have expertise in investment sales, lease brokerage, valuations, workplace consultancy, property and project management to domestic and international investors, occupiers, and real estate developers.
