First-timers are being encouraged to take part in the Colliers Bristol TRYathlon 2019 in aid of the Malcolm Gunter Foundation.
Each year professionals from across the UK are invited to undertake a 400m indoor swim, 16km cycle and 5km run, either as individuals or in teams of three.
The 2019 event, organised by the Bristol office of global real estate advisor Colliers International, will take place at Tockington Manor School on Friday, May 31.
Nick Williams, Director, Building Surveying & Project Management, Colliers International, said: “Our TRYathlon has always been hugely popular with professionals in Bristol and across the UK, but this year we would like to make it an even more inclusive affair.
“While some of our triathletes enter the event with a highly competitive mindset, the aim this year is to attract as many novices as possible, people who have never entered a triathlon before but would like to give it a go, and the best first-time entrant will be presented with a special trophy.”
The day will also feature live music, smoothies and a barbecue and participants are welcome to bring their families and friends along to watch them compete.
The proceeds from the TRYathlon will go to the Malcolm Gunter Foundation, named after a prominent Bristol property professional who was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease in 2017 and who passed away the following year. The foundation (www.malcfoundation.co.uk) was set up to support Malcolm’s family and others in their situation, and to fund further research into the disease.
Tim Davies, head of the South West and Wales at Colliers International, added: “Malcolm Gunter was a popular and well respected colleague in the region’s commercial property sector for many years and we are delighted to be supporting the charity founded in his name.”
It costs £90 to enter a relay team for this year’s Colliers Bristol TRYathlon or £40 to enter as an individual. Entry is open to anyone over the age of 16. To register please visit www.k2sports-uk.com/events-competition
