Responding to the Autumn Statement, Anthony Aitken, Head of Planning at Colliers International, said:

“From a planning perspective, a key message in today’s Autumn Statement included infrastructural investment to support future economic growth. Funding for the northern line extension to Battersea, the upgrading of the four missing sections of the M1, and confirmation of the widely anticipated HS2 extension to Manchester and Leeds underscores the Government’s commitment to laying the foundations for future economic growth and development.

“Assistance to provide funding for 120,000 new homes is also welcome, but with record low levels of new house building and the new National Planning Policy Framework still to take full effect, this represents a 'drop in the ocean' when compared to actual demand.”
