The Singapore government has on 18 Feb 2020 unveiled a slew of measures that will help the country deal with novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, as well as address longer-term global challenges and structural shifts. Colliers International’s experts look at what these measures mean for the real estate industry, particularly commercial and industrial property, and tourism sectors.
The general marketplace may be fraught with uncertainty, but the residential property sector appears to be chugging along, at least for now. Data released on Monday (17 Feb) showed that developers sold 618 new private homes (excluding Executive Condos) last month – which incidentally is the best performing January sales since January 2013 (where 2,028 units were transacted).
Colliers Research notes that both the retail and industrial property markets showed signs of bottoming and will likely continue to stabilise into 2020. However, downside risks persist, and any recovery will likely be marginal, particularly for the retail property market which remains vulnerable.
Colliers is inviting offers for the purchase of a pair of conservation shophouses in Neil Road and three other shophouses with adjoining vacant land in Jasmine Road via two separate Expression of Interest (EOI) exercises.
