Commercial property markets enjoyed a strong first half to 2022, but activity across both occupier and investment markets slowed in recent weeks.

Economic and political uncertainty, rising interest rates, high debt servicing costs, and a surge in building costs all add to investors’ list of worries and are impeding decision-making.

Key highlights in the month's Snapshot include:

  • Monthly investment volumes slow from June’s £6.4bn to £2bn in July

  • Further mild yield compression reported in Q2, but signs of stabilisation evident in July

  • Retail rents stabilise, while industrial rents continue to rise strongly
