Interest rates still sensitive to inflation despite base rate hold.


Following the Monetary Policy Committee's decision to hold base rate at 0.1% this month, activity in interest rate markets appear to continue to be drive by sentiment on inflation rather than the base rate.

The key question is whether higher levels of inflation currently seen are transitory or indeed structural.
