Woodside is without doubt one of the nicest guest houses of its size we have had the pleasure to offer for sale in Keswick for quite some time. Situated in a prominent trading position on the southern entrance to the town, the property occupies a delightful mature setting amid well-tendered and mature gardens. Built in 1895 for one of the spinster sisters of the nearby Bobbin Mill, Woodside has five well-proportioned en suite letting bedrooms, but its most unexpected feature is the delightfully spacious two bedroom owners’ flat with separate private enclosed patio which is a wonderful sun trap and really makes this charming guest house. The addition of a garage/workshop and plenty of parking makes Woodside an easily operated business and a really wonderful home.

The Lake District National Park – now a World Heritage Site –is known throughout the country for its breath-taking scenery and attracts many thousands of visitors over an ever-widening tourist season. Set at the northern end of Borrowdale –England’s most beautiful valley – Keswick lies on the shores of Derwentwater with a backdrop of watchful fells. The town has a fascinating history from the 4,000 year old Castlerigg stone circle which is within easy walking distance of Woodside, the 13th Century Charter Market and the lead and slate mining. Today’s tourist industry is well-served with many attractions including its three-week religious convention and jazz, beer, walking and literary festivals, all bringing additional visitors to this delightful corner of England. Keswick is also a wonderful centre for touring the whole of the national park, with Bassenthwaite on its doorstep and the oft-forgotten lakes of Buttermere, Crummock and Loweswater just over Whinlatter Pass. To the south lies Grasmere and Windermere making easy day trips to any part of the national park.
