Colliers has become the latest real estate advisors to join the Managing Agents Partnership of the Better Building Partnership (BBP).

BBP is a collaboration of the UK’s leading commercial property owners which is working towards improving professional understanding of sustainability, improving building performance and stimulating environmental transformation among investors and occupiers.

As a firm which provides property management to more than 72 million sq ft across 1,200, commercial properties in the UK, Colliers has signed up to the partnership to work with members to create industry frameworks and best practice standards to support the move towards a more sustainable and resilient built environment.

Stewart Smith, director in the firm’s property management team and chair of the team’s ESG Steering Committee said: “Industry collaboration will be essential if we are to have a chance of realising the potential of our sector to tackle urgent global challenges. We’ve been founding members of many national green building councils globally and have continued to expand our sustainability focussed advisory services to support our clients to improve environmental and social performance and minimise associated risk.

“Now more than ever there’s a real focus on meeting net zero aspirations and collaborating to do what’s right to achieve this goal for the greater good. We’re proud to be working with BBP’s members to ensure that the most robust measures are developed to meet essential environmental goals.”

Since 2013 Colliers has delivered certified renewable energy across our managed portfolio, launched a Social Value Framework to quantify and improve the impact that local initiatives and our supply chain have on the communities in which we operate, as well as delivered a wide range of healthy workplace initiatives including RESET certifications for clients.

Sarah Ratcliffe, CEO, Better Buildings Partnership added: “We are delighted to be welcoming new members to the Managing Agents Partnership. Responsible Property Management is a cornerstone of delivering on sustainability and ESG ambitions for real estate portfolios. We look forward to the contribution that Colliers will make to this highly collaborative initiative.”
