The specialist hotels agency team of global real estate advisor, Colliers International, has sold The Gwydyr Hotel in Betws y Coed, Gwynedd, North Wales, on behalf of sellers Rob and Dawn Farren, off a guide price of £895,000.
The 20-bedroom picturesque hotel, overlooking the green in the bustling village within Snowdonia National Park, was sold to James Budgen a local businessman and wedding videographer who has decided to diversify into the leisure sector.The hotel offers modern styled breakfast and dining room, TV/sports lounge, two separate owners’ apartments and parking for hotel guests.

The hotel has been privately owned since the 1970’s and has been operated by the current owners for the past six years. The building has been sympathetically renovated to include much of the original character of this period property, yet incorporating a modern edge with stylish décor to its public areas and bedrooms. The business has been developed over the years to take advantage of the ever increasing market in Snowdonia.
Betws-y-Coed is the principal village in the Snowdonia National Park. Covering more than 800 square miles, the park is a region of haunting beauty and grandeur with wild rocky mountains, hidden valleys, cascading rivers, still glacial lakes and deep forests. It is a draw for tourists from all over the world and is a mecca for the outdoor pursuit’s enthusiasts including walkers, climbers, cyclists and adrenaline junkies, with Surf Snowdonia, Bounce below and Zip world located a short drive away. The village itself offers a pleasant mix of restaurants, café bars and small shops centred around its fast flowing river which runs through its heart.
The sale of Gwydyr Hotel follows other notable Colliers International’s North Wales deals, including The Royal Sportsman Hotel, Porthmaddog, Caerlyr Hall, Penmaenmawr and The Hen-Dy Hotel Llandudno, which were sold towards the end of 2019.
